November 2011 – Judy Lyon

The Secret Ingredient
Judy Lyon grew up surrounded by family quilts. So, it was no surprise that quilts would play an important part in her life. Inspired to make a quilt for her son, she designed a quilt heavily pieced with birds and animals peeking out from leaves in the rainforest. For he quilting, she drew a forest of leaves and creatures for her friend Angela Meadows to quilt on her longarm. And thus was born MeadowLyon Designs.
During the past 12 years MeadowLyon Designs, LLC has created over 200 different patterns, including Pantographs, Pictograms®, Borders, Sashings, Blocks and Quilts. They are best known for their innovative non-repeating pantographs (pictograms), which depict themes such as Nature, Americana, Holidays, and Fantasy.
Judy and her family (she has eight grown children) have lived all over the world with her husband’s Army assignments. They currently live in Lansing, Kansas.
